Sprinkler

A sprinkler is an irrigation emitter that ejects a rotating stream of water. The rotary movement of the sprinkler is generated thanks to the water pressure. They are usually used for irrigation of lawns and meadows.

The irrigation scope of the sprinklers is very varied and, in addition, it can be varied by changing the nozzle through which the water is expelled. Four groups of sprinklers are distinguished according to their reach.

  • Short range sprinklers. They have a range of 4 to 7 meters.
  • Medium range sprinklers, with a range between 6 and 12 meters.
  • High-reach sprinklers, capable of irrigating at a distance of 12 to 18 meters.
  • Irrigation cannons. They are used in sports fields and have ranges greater than 25 meters.

Sprinklers are the most efficient irrigation emitters. They are indicated if the following conditions are met:

  • The turf area is large enough for the sprinkler to reach.
  • The area to be irrigated does not have too many nooks and crannies or plants in the middle of the lawn that could be affected by a direct stream of water
  • The water pressure is sufficient for the correct operation of the sprinklers.

Diffusers require less water pressure On the other hand, a diffuser is an irrigation emitter that provides water in the form of a fan, without making any type of movement. Diffusers are considerably simpler than sprinklers.

The most important part of the diffuser is the nozzle, which is the place through which the water fan is emitted. It is a replaceable part that determines both the scope and the shape of the fan.
